MERIBEL – A WORLD CLASS RESORT IN THE HEART OF THE THREE VALLEYS SKI AREA

Meribel enjoys a privileged position, the central valley of the world famous Three Valleys domain, the world’s largest linked ski area, with over 600km of groomed pistes, it’s easy to see why guests return to Meribel year after year to continue their discovery of this massive ski area.

The Three Valleys ski area includes the resorts of Courchevel & La Tania to the east and St Martin de Belleville, Les Menuires and Val Thorens to the west of Meribel, the entire area is linked by a vast network of over 300 lifts.

From Meribel, the Valley of Courchevel is easily accessible via the Saulire gondola (a little over 10 minutes from the base to the peak of The Burgin Saulire at 2735m) or take the Col de Loze chair for easy access to La Tania & Courchevel 1850 (quicker if you’re based in Meribel Village).

From the top of Tougnete chair (12 minutes from Meribel-Chaudanne), gives you immediate access to The Belleville Valley. From here you can ski down to the beautiful village of St Martin, taking in the awesome pistes of either Pramint, an awesome cruisey red, or the legendary Jerusalem, either route will leave you with a massive smile from ear to ear. If you have been looking for the best chalets in Meribel, give us a shot.

You can be skiing in Europe’s highest resort of Val Thorens in less than one hour from Meribel, with altitudes ranging from 1800 – 3200m and if that isn’t enough, venture a little further into the 4th Valley of Orelle (yes, that’s correct, the Three Valleys is actually made up of 4) in Orelle you will find the highest accessible peak at 3230m, there are some fabulous and mainly very quiet pistes over there and well worth the effort to get there.

Beginners have the choice of almost 50 runs (plenty to get your teeth into), the range for intermediate skiers is endless; with 100+ reds runs and well over 100 blue runs, so you can pretty much ski all week without doing the same run twice. And, for the more advanced skiers & boarders the options are impressive, from the 27 black runs to acres of steep off-piste and some pretty tricky couloirs too!

For those wanting some bumps, then you can’t beat Le Bosses off the top of Legends chairlift from La Chaudanne, venture further afield and there are plenty of moguls in Val Thorens too!

For those seeking the thrill of off-piste there is access to 2500 hectares all told. Take a guide for the day to really get off the beaten path and experience untouched powder.

With over 85% of the pistes in The Three Valleys at over 1800m, this ensures fabulous skiing throughout the entire winter, with an infrastructure & unrivalled investment in snow cannons ensures cover on the lower village runs until the late April. There’s now a network of some 2300 snow-cannons ensuring cover throughout the season across entire Three Valleys!

With a constantly improving lift system with millions of Euros invested every year in new lifts and upgrades throughout the entire area, you will never queue for very long even on the busiest weeks of the season. High speed chair-lifts and multi passenger gondolas, village to peak in approx. 10 minutes. Choose us to experience the chalets in Meribel.

If you get your kicks on the jumps, boxes or the half pipe, then we have you covered:

Meribel boasts two impressive snow-parks, the smaller Elements Park accessible from the top of the Legends chair and the huge DC Park in Motteret, complete with professional half pipe and numerous jumps, rails and boxes. There is an awesome snow park in Val Thorens too, accessible via Le Moutiere chair.

OUR FAVOURITE RUNS

Meribel Valley– Choucas, a lovely blue run which decends from the top of the Cheferie chair, we love its undulating wide piste, always good after a heavy snowfall as you can pop off the side and enjoy some wonderful powder without having to venture too far off piste. This continues right down to La Chaudanne via Gelinotte piste.

Another recommendation (although not a single piste, but an amazing and uninterrupted descent) would be Summit to Village, that is the Summit of the Saulire right down to Meribel Village, although not one single piste, it is made up of a combination of several, starting on the red from the summit, continuing into Chamois, then it changes to blue into Le Renardeau then green across the Altiport and the home run is the blue Lapin right down to Meribel Village, it’s a fantastic ski down to lunch or indeed to end your day with a vertical descent of over 1500m and around 7km in length. It is a real leg burner to do it non-stop, but you can always make the excuse that the stop is to admire the view. Head to Lodge du Village and their amazing sun-drenched terrace for lunch or apres drinks. Meribel skiing is one of the most loved activity in France and you should not miss it.

Courchevel Valley– My favourite is The Folyieres, the blue run into La Tania, a fabulous long and winding blue back through the trees to the village of La Tania.

For a real challenge take L’Eclipse, this was the new black run that was built for the 2022 world cup, it starts just below the Bouc Blanc summit and descends into Le Praz, not for the faint hearted. A really steep black and a full-on challenge.

Belleville Valley, Le Grand Lac, the fantastically long blue run from the top of Le Bouquetin & Granges chair lifts, head back down this long blue run towards St Martin, this is around 10km from top to bottom. Get away from the crowds and head to the top of Le Masse in Les Menuires, we love the descents from the top of this summit.

We also love Pluviometre which really nice long blue run into the centre of Val Thorens, we also love Boismint a quiet red piste off the top of Boismint chairlift, this takes you all the way to the lowest point of Val Thorens, from there take Plan D’e L’eau chairlift to access the main area of VT.

Enjoy peace of mind when it comes to snow cover

A quality made possible by a combination of elements, starting with the favourable altitude and advantageous topography of the area.  85% of the Three Valley ski area runs are set at altitudes of 1,800 metres or more. The Three Valleys also draws on its capacity to produce artificial snow – made using only air and water – when required, thanks to over 2,300 snowmakers dotted around its ski runs. Add to that the advantage of inter- valley mountaintop ski links.

Unlike many other ski areas, The Three Valleys resorts aren’t connected to one another along the bottom of the valley but via mountain ridges at altitudes of more than 2,000 metres, which obviously plays a decisive part in guaranteeing exceptional snow quality to skiers who want to switch between resorts. And to perfect the picture, every night, under cover of darkness, 70 piste grooming machines arrive on the slopes to sculpt a velvety snow mantle for tomorrow. These offer the best of Meribel skiing, let us know if you have any questions.
